John Neil Birch although mainly a self-taught artist born in Bewdley Worcestershire England in 1938, in the fifties John gained entrance to the Stourbridge College of Art and studied there for three years. During those years he received several awards in the subject of Art.

After leaving college he spent 13 years in the carpet design industry in Kidderminster, several designs of John's went into production and sold worldwide, and even to day some of those designs can still be found on the open market.

After leaving the design industry he became self employed and remained there until he retired in 1999.

John spends most of his time painting birds in the wild, although he will from time to time paint from birds in his own or private collections, not only does he have the love for painting birds he as spent the last 64 years breeding them, his own collection includes some endangered species.

John works in oils on canvas and over the years his originals have gone to collections in the UK, America, Australia, Ireland , Holland and New Zealand and at the same time his prints have been collected worldwide.

Commissions are accepted by John, and he would be pleased to talk over with anyone about a particular subject they would like.
